About the association

It all started with a conversation among "internet friends". Since the inception of the most popular social media platforms of today in the first decade of the millennium, there have been health professionals who have utilized social media for purposes including practice marketing, disease awareness, and medical education.

As an organization, we, Association for Healthcare Social Media, play a key role in developing best practices for social media use in health and to advocate for the recognition of social media as an important public health tool in the fight to combat misinformation.
